Aaron Baker reportedly traded to Orioles

Marauders first baseman Aaron Baker appears to be on the move.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded Baker, first baseman for high Single-A Bradenton, to the Balitmore Orioles in exchange for first baseman Derrek Lee, according to the Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly.

Baker, who turns 24 in September, was the Pirates' 11th-round pick in 2009. He was hitting .282 with 15 home runs and 73 RBIs in 103 games with the Marauders, and ranks third in the Florida State League in RBIs and is tied for fourth in home runs.

Baker was named the MVP of the Florida State League All-Star Game.

Though the Orioles do not have a FSL team, Baker probably hasn't played his last game at McKechnie Field - the Orioles spend their springs in nearby Sarasota, and play the Pirates frequently during the Grapefruit League season.

Lee, 35, is hitting .248 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs for the Pirates. He has 324 career home runs and won a World Series ring with Florida Marlins in 2003.

(bradentonmarauders.com)

Another Pittsburgh Pirate is on rehab with the Marauders.

Outfielder Jose Tabata was added to the roster today as he works his way back from a quad injury. The Marauders begin a four-game series in Dunedin tonight.

Pirates such as Chris Snyder, Joe Beimel and Pedro Alvarez have also logged time with the high Single-A Marauders during rehab stints this summer.

Tabata was acquired from the New York Yankees during the summer of '08.

He is batting .265 in 71 games this year with the Pirates, with 15 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

The Marauders are continuing their surge here at McKechnie Field, where they lead the St. Lucie Mets 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
The sky has cleared and the weather is cool and comfortable, and the fans here witnessed the Marauders score five times in the fourth.
Carlos Paulino stroked a two-run double, while Kelson Brown, Evan Chambers and Robbie Grossman also drove in runs.
Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez, working his way back from a right quad injury, is 1-for-2 with a run scored. He als also assisted on four putouts.

Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez has been added to the Marauders' roster on a major-league re-hab assignment.

He will play tonight when the Marauders host Port St. Lucie at 6 p.m.

Out since May 19 with a quad injury, Alvarez played Monday with the Pirates' Gulf Coast League team during a rain-shortened game in Clearwater.

He is batting .208 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 36 games with the Pirates this year. He was the team's first-round pick, and second pick overall, in 2008.

Pirates call up Eric Fryer

(piratesprospects.com) A former Marauder is heading to Pittsburgh.
Catcher Eric Fryer, who spent all of last summer in Bradenton with the high Single-A Marauders, has been called up to the Pirates and will be in uniform for tonight's game against the Boston Red Sox.
He becomes the first Marauder to make the majors with the Pirates. Pitcher Nathan Adcock, a Marauder last summer, was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the Rule 5 draft and made this year's Opening Day roster.
A catcher, Fryer hit .300 and threw out 37 percent of runners trying to steal in 83 games last season with Bradenton despite missing part of the season after taking a foul ball off his face while trying to bunt.
He began this year with Double-A Altoona, where he hit .345 with 16 RBIs in 37 games before a bump to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Fryer was hitting .262 with the Indians before getting the call from the Pirates.
The 25-year-old Fryer was a 10th-round draft pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2007. He was traded from the New York Yankees to the Pirates during a deal in the summer of '09 that sent Eric Hinske to New York.
