July 1st 2011, In-Game Update for Palm Beach Cardinals vs. Bradenton Marauders
The Marauders finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Jairo Marquez led off the inning with a double that sizzled over Adam Melker's head in centerfield. Bengie Gonzalez got Marquez to third with a sacrifice bunt. Jarek Cunningham used timely hitting to score Marquez with two outs. However the real damage in the inning came from Pedro Alvarez. Alvarez showed his power as he hit an opposite field home run that cleared the fence about 20 feet inside the left field foul pole. The Marauders took a 3-0 lead that looks very commanding behind the pitching of Brandon Cumpton. Cumpton has not walked anyone and has allowed only 4 hits through six innings. After six complete innings, the Marauders lead 3-0.
