The Clearwater Threshers lead the Marauders 2-0 after five innings here at gorgeous Bright House Field.
Marauders starter Brandon Cumpton retired the first 12 batters he faced before Darin Ruf singled leading off the fifth. That ignited a rally that included run-scoring singles from Cesar Hernandez and Troy Hanzawa, as the Threshers touched Cumpton up for four hits in the inning.
Cumpton has struck out seven and walked none.
His counterpart, Jarred Cosart, one of the Philadelphia Phillies' top prospects, pitched out of a jam in the sixth when he struck out Elevys Gonzalez with two outs and the bases loaded.
