Cumpton escapes, preserves M's 1-0 lead

The Marauders lead the Mets 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to starter Brandon Cumpton, who pitched into and out of his first jam of the night in the top of the fifth.

Jefry Marte led off the inning with a single and stole second before Cumpton struck out Cesar Puello. An infield single by Cory Vaughn put runners on the corners, but Cumpton responded by striking out Francisco Pena and Jose Coronado.

Cumpton has allowed three hits, two of which have not left the infield, and struck out six through five innings. He has walked one.
