Former Marauder Marte named Eastern League Rookie of the Year

(minorleaguebaseball.com) Starling Marte's sterling season at Double-A Altoona did not go unnoticed.
Marte, 22, has been named the Eastern League's Rookie of the Year, making him the first Curve to win the award.
Marte led the league in hitting (.332), hits (177) and tied the for the lead in doubles (38). He was second in runs (90) and total bases (267) while hitting 12 home runs, driving in 50, stealing 24 bases and slugging .501.
Marte batted .315 in 60 games last season with Bradenton. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an undrafted free agent in 2007.
